Was this review helpful? I've half-watched this go nowhere for the last 3 episodes. Read The Trouble With Maggie Cole episode 6 preview.
I prefer this to Delicious, it's only been on 2 episodes but i enjoyed them both, i like all the characters and Dawn French and Mark Heap are brill. But it is awful. I neither know or care about any of the characters. regrettably it's neither. Was this review helpful? 0 out of 0 found this helpful. She's asked to talk about village life, but after being plied with a few G&Ts gives the journalist much more. Dawn French is wonderful, as always and yes - it was painfully difficult to watch one of the scenes, but that was the point! Watched the first episode and stuck with it to halfway through the second for the sake of the hard labouring cast and lovely scenery but enough is enough. Lacked any drama, lacked any humour and was painfully slow and clunky, hard to see why it was commissioned, even in an afternoon slot it would have been below par. This is without doubt one of ITVs worst dramas of recent years. The well-known cast (Dawn French, Mark Heap etc) draw you in, but the cliché characters and cheap storyline develop at an extremely slow pace making for a difficult watch. 1000 piece jigsaw is more fun. I imagine there are a few towns across UK (and the world) where situations like this would/could happen. With Dawn French, Mark Heap, Emily Reid, Tomi May.
Was this review helpful? Poor directing, cheap story lines and child like dialogue. It's like a Brexit version of Broadchurch, only without the humour, drama or interest.
Each show seems mainly to consist of Dawn French gurning her way through an uncomfortable hour. Was this review helpful? Much like 'Quiz' they overhyped this so much, making it out to be amazing, when actually it was probably a show that needed to quietly launch, gain an audience through word of mouth and grow. Having the secret out in the open was actually a relief for Kerry although it caused problems in her marriage to Neil (Joe Layton).Kelly and Neil reached breaking point in their marriage and they decided to burn the money after taking some for themselves. Genial Productions / ITV. 1 out of 3 found this helpful. So much talent around and we get this.. Was this review helpful? Good story and good acting 5 out of 12 found this helpful. Read the full The Trouble With Maggie Cole episode 4 recap.
8 out of 12 found this helpful. Story OK. Not a fan of French but she plays the part without being too much (as she usually is). She just isn't funny in this drama, nor is her character endearing. The script and plotting is an insult to the intelligence. 0 out of 0 found this helpful. The 3 stars are for the lovely SW countryside and a mostly decent cast. Maggie (Dawn French) tried to deal with her family having kept a secret from her on the latest episode of The Trouble With Maggie Cole. 0 Shares. I think the writing is beautiful. Was this review helpful? It's marketed as a comedy drama. Neither funny, dramatic or interesting.

While some of the storylines a questionable, the cast are very well placed and enjoyable to watch - with Gwyneth Keyworth stealing the show with her dry delivery. 2 out of 2 found this helpful. Was this review helpful? Dawn French fans should head for 'Delicious' in which she's superb and there is drama and comedy in abundance. Trouble is the decent cast are struggling against an awful script and plot.
ITV are doing this on a regular basis Pip Ellwood-Hughes March 18, 2020. The exterior location shots were wonderful though, but it's not enough to prop up what is nothing more than a very silly PC Am-Dram production. Even her husband (Mark Heap) is a parody of Hugo in the Vicar of Dibley series.
Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? I really enjoyed the first episode! Was this review helpful? As a huge fan of Dawn French and Mark Heap I have really really tried to like this series.
I would be interested to see other projects by this writer and how he develops, as there's such warmth and heart in the writing that can't be learned, you just have to HAVE it, you know? 7 out of 17 found this helpful. That a grown, intelligent woman would trust a radio reporter and do a hatchet job on every friend and acquaintance she has, yes I know he got her a bit tipsy but for God's sake that was just plain ridiculous. It starts dull and just gets duller by the episode. Was this review helpful? Maggie quickly falls out with everyone, and must spend her time building bridges. Whilst we're meant to be in a golden age of TV, ITV continue to produce rubbish like this, full of cliche characters, badly written dialogue and set in a 1990s world where every teenager is an ASBO, every marriage is on the rocks, every foreigner is treated with disdain. This series showed promise in the beginning but ended up a farce. Cliche, awful dialogue, stereotypes, pantomime acting ... it doesn't know whether it's a black comedy or drama. Directed by Ben Gregor. Was this review helpful? 12 out of 27 found this helpful.
