Please see our Mark Heap is an English actor and comedian from Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India.Throughout his career, Heap has starred in numerous television comedies.He is best known for portraying Jim Bell in Friday Night Dinner, a role he has played since 2011.In Friday Night Dinner, Heap stars alongside Simon Bird, Paul Ritter, Tom Rosenthal and Tamsin Greig.He played the role of Malcolm on Benidorm between 2017 and 2018.Heap is also well known for his appearances in several comedies in the 90s and early 2000s.He starred in Brass Eye from 1997 until 2001 and then went on to star in Big Train from 1998 until 2002 and Spaced between 1991 and 2001.Heap is also well recognised from his role as Alan Statham in Green Wing, where he starred alongside Tamsin Greig, Sally Bretton, Stephen Mangan and Karl Theobald.He played the role of Alan in Green Wing from 2004 until 2007.More recently, Heap starred in David Mitchell’s Shakespeare comedy Upstart Crow.In Upstart Crow, Heap plays the role of Robert Greene, alongside David Mitchell, Harry Enfield, Rob Rouse, Gemma Whelan and Liza Tarbuck.Earlier this year, he played the role of the headmaster in ITV’s The Trouble with Maggie Cole.Heap began his career as a member of Medieval Players, a touring company performing medieval and early modern theatre, and featuring stilt-walking, juggling and puppetry.His other credits include Lark Rise to Candleford, Hotel Babylon, Skins, Love Soup, Desperate Romantics and The Great Outdoors.Mark Heap appears in series three, episode six of Death in Paradise.The episode is titled The Early Bird and sees Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman investigate the death of a birdwatcher on the island of Saint Marie.Heap played the role of Alec Burton in the episode.The synopsis for the episode reads: “When a birdwatcher is discovered murdered in the Saint-Marie jungle, the team have a particularly puzzling conundrum to solve.“Is the traditionally quiet and calm world of birdwatching more cut-throat than it appears?”Also, guest-starring in the episode alongside Heap was Paul Barer as Captain Jack, Ciarán McMenamin as Dan Parish, Hannah John-Kamen as Yasmin Blake, Lisa Kay as Gloria Talbot, William Beck as Matt Webster and Richard Huw as Mark Talbot.
