My local cafes don’t have heating and often keep their doors open year-round – I am way too soft for that malarkey.Aside from the Artic blast and occasional torrential downpour we do get many blue sky winter days in Melbourne, which makes it slightly less depressing. House prices are about $200K less for a similar home about the same distance from the city centre. I don’t want to be too political, but I have unexpectedly become an Australian suffering from the poor housing policies of federal and state governments, which (continue to) promote housing as a private investment and not a need (like healthcare).
If the government wants to generate a jobs scheme, and save energy costs, promote cosy as a basic building standard.
Perhaps one of the most contentious issues around the Sydney vs. Melbourne debate is the weather. The A-League Grand Final has delivered an absolute cracker of a game with Sydney FC defeating Melbourne City 1-0 to win a third championship in four years. In their tenth season in the A-League this game represents their greatest achievement in the league thus far, and fans who stuck with the club through the City takeover will be rapt to see the red and white on centre stage. From around 90 AUD (66.90 USD) per night, you can get a decent hotel room in the CBD for 2. Roar Guru Melbourne reminds me of the European cities in some many ways while Sydney is much more laid-back. I will spend some of my saved income on getting proper Nordic or German inspired insulation! Sydney has its fair share of award-winning restaurants but they tend to be of the pricey variety. Sydney was home but it’s no longer the city I grew up in (albeit still beautiful) . 13 mins: City work the ball around with ease in their own third, the Sky Blues content to sit back and wait. One of Sydney’s biggest drawcards is the abundance of nature that you can find in the city, which gives it an edge in the Sydney vs Melbourne competition.
(“Hey, why isn’t Canberra on your comparison list?” said only people who haven’t been there). As a visitor to Australia – and hence lacking your long term view – I feel that Sydney is the more eye-catching city. But before all of that upheaval both teams have a trophy to earn.
There is also the plan to have a second city in Geelong, which. Both Sydney and City boast the Golden Boot frontrunners, Jamie Maclaren (23 goals) and Adam le Fondre (21), and both sides topped the A-League scoring with 49 goals apiece. They finished one and two at the end of the regular season, had 2-0 wins in the semi-finals and now lead us to the finish line of the most tumultuous season in A-League history.Their matching 2-0 wins were symmetrical in result only. I think it’s the closest thing to an English-village-within-a-city that I’ve experienced here.YAS! The Victorian government has (at least) responded much better than NSW’s, and is really planning for the city becoming Australia’s largest in future, by 2030. Now travelling with a baby and trying to make it as stylish and stress-free as can be!Hasn’t this question been argued about since Captain Cook landed?

Anyone can contribute to The Roar and have their work I've called London, Sydney, Melbourne and (for 7 awesome weeks) New York home – but don’t ask me to rank them.
It’s the grand final of the eternal 2019-20 A-League season and the two best teams in the land, Sydney FC and Melbourne City, face each other for …
In Melbourne there’s nothing to instantly grab you in quite the same way, so I didn’t quite get it the first few times I went.
Melbourne City, on the other hand, defended grimly at times to weather the attacks of new boys Western United, but they had more cunning and nous – plus the talented Tom Glover in goal – when it mattered to find a victory through a penalty and an own goal. Roar Guru In Sydney, we embraced the coastal walks, loved exploring all the golden beaches and scenic nooks of the harbour and even got into the whole smoothie and acai bowl healthy lifestyle – I think the weather encourages it.Melbourne reminds me a lot more of home, which has good and bad consequences.
And yes, the climate is warmer, and beaches in town. So, when I find a way to change my life and move to Australia, I will be going to Melbourne. Min odds, bet, and payment method exclusions apply.
