The MLC Centre and its surrounding podium form both an iconic landmark and an important pedestrian connection within the Sydney CBD. The $170 redevelopment, expected to be completed by the end of 2021, includes plans to revive the Theatre Royal after Dexus committed to a 45-year lease with the NSW Government earlier this year. The podium and its steps constitute the primary street address for the MLC Centre and offer pedestrian links to King Street and the surrounding urban streetscapes and retail offerings of Martin Place, Pitt Street and Castlereagh Street.
