The Spinners, while from Detroit, were nevertheless one of the most critically and commercially successful of the "Philly Soul" groups, scoring with "The Rubberband Man," "(One Of A Kind) Love Affair," and "It's A Shame."
Bobbie Smith, Henry Fambrough, Billy Henderson, Pervis Jackson, and Chico Edwards were the original Spinners.
None of the group's other material from Tri-Phi appear on this album.
Smith and the Spinners enjoyed only minimal success during their Motown tenure, but broke big after signing with Atlantic Records in 1971 at the suggestion of Aretha Franklin.
