Double Nickels on the Dime is definitely not a perfect album, as it is marred by a few personal blemishes.

Only people with a deep connection can make music like this that is heartfelt, intelligent, and, most importantly, ROCKS YOUR SOCKS. I think plaidzebra just got a bad copy. They were a punk band.

I am very glad I held onto my vinyl because for reasons I can't fathom, three songs on the original release are not on this reissue, which is why I am not giving it the five stars this album deserves. These guys loved music and, I daresay, you can hear how much they loved each other, both in the lyrics and the musicianship. SST: get your act together.

I bought it new for $14, an excellent price for a fresh vinyl copy of an esteemed recording.

But in open defiance of the cretin hop that dominates the genre, outlaw bands like the California trio the The Minutemen’s bitter pill is even harder to swallow.

Given Boon’s untimely death in an accident on Interstate 10 (ironically the Dime of the album’s title) eighteen months after Double Nickels’s release we will never know if this would have ultimately been the band’s magnum opus, but given the circumstances it clearly stands as that. True to their name, they cram Double Nickels on the Dime with an incredible forty-five songs.

I rank Double Nickels on the Dime in the top ten albums released in the 80's. Also, the same drum sections and guitar lines can be found recycled from previous songs, but it’s not a common mistake.
