The Ar tonelico games all feature parties of four characters, though the results of each battle system are mixed to say the best: 1 goes from good to boring depending on who you ask, 2 is unanimously considered to have the best battle system in the series despite there being some people who dislike it, and 3 has an ARPG style battle system that is considered from mediocre to terrible.There are some sprite and model-based cutscenes, but most of the game uses a VN-style presentation. Hymmnos has two main sublanguages (Standard Hymmnos and New Testament of Pastalie), its predecessors Carmena Foreluna and Ar Ciela are considered as separate languages themselves, and the Surge Concerto games introduced two more languages called Emotional Song Pact and REON-4213.They are 6-7 out of 10's that are 10/10's in my heart.Really enjoyed this one. The Atelier games are nice and all, but it's all Gust ever does now. So yeah, the system is really interesting, but you have to take it for just what it is, nothing more.Its really a Visual Novel, with a... more or less good staging. Seriously, if you are able to endure (unless you like moe fan service), get it.
