Smiling, the Doctor informs her that one night on Darillium lasts for twenty-four years. All in all, one of the better Christmas specials. It's Christmas Day on a remote human colony, and the Doctor is hiding from carols and comedy antlers. Was this review helpful? The door opens again, with the Doctor now lacking the antlers; he asks what Nardole wants. It does though have a more serious emotional aspect later on which is rather touching and adds a bit of weight to the otherwise very light entertainment. Steven Moffat hasn't written an episode like this since 2011, an it's refreshing to see him do this again, an episode that is just a Doctor Who episode, not bound by story-arcs or character arcs(for the most part), just pure Doctor Who fun. King Hydroflax (Greg Davies) is furious and his giant robot bodyguard is out-of-control and coming for them all! However, there's again some of Moffat's (by now) famous issues with continuity.
And you don't even need to be a Whovian to enjoy it. There is every indication that, when Moffat wrote The Husbands of River Song, he intended it to be his swan song. Even the music was a throwback to that two parter. Capaldi and Kingston harmonize very well and it was fun watching them together. It felt like her character took precedence over everything else in the show and the Doctor had to take the back seat. I guess the Doctor's compensation for having to play the straight man to a cadre of saucy female female impersonators is that he gets to play God and have them pray to him. River tells the Doctor that she bought a guidebook that tells her when a restaurant will be destroyed; therefore, as a time traveller, she can get a free meal, as long as she doesn't go to the same place twice and create a paradox. Capaldi was ace through the whole episode, I loved the "carol singers will be criticized" part. Noting the Doctor does not look like the surgeon's photos, the Doctor jokes that it's an Heading inside, the Doctor asks what the emergency is. It was also great to have a story to River's "goodbye" of Forest of the Dead. It was a season that I found as much to like as I did to dislike and it was rather uneven in its tone and content.
An electronic hum comes from inside, and the Doctor thanks the TARDIS for listening to him. Also, the beginning was a bit too silly. I had seen some DW here and there for years but finally got into it Summer 2015 after breaking my ankle playing sports. My only criticism is that it was a little to over the top with sexual innuendos. The Doctor learns to his shock that one button actually causes the waste tanks on Deck 7 to be released. When a crashed spaceship calls upon the Doctor for help, he finds himself recruited into River Song's squad and hurled into a chase across the galaxy. The Doctor finds himself a victim of misidentification joining River Song (who also doesn't recognize him) as she attempts to steal a diamond from the tyrant Hydraflax.

I am amazed at how the writers called back to Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (some of my favorite episodes) 5 series after they aired. This all builds to a marvelous, brilliant, and tear-jerking finale. Choose an adventure below and discover your next favorite movie or TV show.Keep track of everything you watch; tell your friends.
